tbadard writes "The 1st International Workshop on Mobile Geospatial Augmented Reality will take place at the Banff Center, Banff, Alberta, Canada, from the 29 to the 30 May 2006. The workshop is organised by the research team of the REGARD laboratory, a component of the CRG - Center for Research in Geomatics. The purpose of this first international workshop on mobile geospatial augmented reality is to establish an interdisciplinary forum for leading researchers from universities, government agencies, and private firms in order to present and exchange state-of-the-art research and applications in this field. The workshop is meant to promote networking between the participants, to initiate and favour discussions regarding cutting-edge technologies in the field, to exchange research ideas and to promote international collaboration." More below.
"Although the workshop focuses on mobile geospatial AR, the key issues targeted by the workshop do not exclude research works dealing with sedentary augmented reality. Presentations concerned with practical applications that merge AR and geomatics are also greatly encouraged.

Authors are invited to submit online short papers, according to the instructions for authors no later than March 31, 2006!"

It allows users to share location-based information and to communicate freely between smart phones, laptops, desktop PCs, PDAs, tablets and browsers. [...] The FLEX creates the illusion of a three-dimensional world where people can navigate through cyberspace landscapes with a remote control while easily getting, creating and working with information."
